I think what God wants is for us to turn the cards that fate dealt us into something positive. Just because some people are born disabled or become disabled doesn’t mean he does not love you. There are days where I do not feel like being an inspiration to others. I still try to live the best life possible.
God does not forsake people, people forsake God
When you are scheduling a share ride, you need to remember that you are not the only one riding the same bus. Always tell the phone receptionist that you need to be there a half hour to an hour before you actually need to be there. Make sure you give yourself enough time to do what you want to do.
The reason why God created disabled people; he wanted people to understand no matter what you can still have a life through Christ.
No one has the right to put you down, not even you.
I usually use Dycem to keep things from slipping, like remotes and plates. Dycem works great, but eventually loses its sticky. I use Duralock Velcro, when I do not have any Dycem. I also use Duralock to mount my cell phone.
Sometimes I feel isolated by my disability, and I have a real inability to connect with people. I feel alone in crowds. If you are going through something similar to this, just know that you are not alone.
Sometimes I feel that the people in the higher positions in these in-home care agencies take advantage of most in home caregivers by giving them low wages, because they view them as an uneducated class of people. Most of the people in this field are working class mothers who are struggling to make ends meet. Most of these women are single mothers who only have a high school diploma or GED, so the job prospects are slim pickings. These caregivers should be elevated not degraded. I’m a firm believer in you get what you pay for. We do ask these caregivers to do a lot of things most people would not do.
